In fact, Kant wore gold-trimmed coats and a ceremonial hat, for which he was nicknamed the «Elegant Master.» He never missed an opportunity to emphasise the difference between himself and his colleagues from Königsberg, who were close in their style to the clergy and Pietists («they walked more modestly, in black or, most courageously, in grey»).
