One of the lunar craters was named in honour of Immanuel Kant by decision of the International Astronomical Union in 1935. This is a large impact crater, 31 km in diameter and 3.7 km deep, on the southwestern border of the Bay of Roughness on the lunar surface. The height of the wall above the lunar surface is 950 m. Neighbours of Kant's crater are Descartes crater, named after the French philosopher and mathematician, and Dollond crater, named after the English optician.
