According to researchers, in 1947 the Izvestia newspaper received a letter from a certain V. V. Lyubimov, where he drew attention to the unsatisfactory condition of Kant's tomb. At the same time, the author stressed the crucial importance of the philosopher's ideas for the development of Marxism, which prevailed in the Soviet Union at the time.
He illustrated his point by referring to Friedrich Engels' writings on Kant. The letter impressed the editorial board and was handed over to Kaliningrad authorities.
Soon Kant's tomb was cleaned and a memorial plaque was installed.
