More than half a century after his death, a single monument was erected in the great philosopher's homeland, Königsberg. The author of the monument, the famous sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch, created it in 1857, but it was not put in place until 1864. During the Second World War, Countess Marion von Denhof hid the monument in her estate. After the war, however, there was no trace of the monument.
In 1992 there was a decision in favour of the construction of a replica of the monument. Countess von Denhof organized a fund to raise funds through private donations, and sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov embodied the idea. The monument was erected near the IKBFU building. on 2 Universitetskaya st. Its height is 2.4 meters. The monument became a symbol of respect for the philosopher not only in Russia, but worldwide.
