The appetite with which Kant devoured buttered bread and cheese was so terrifying and the effects on the body so severe that Kant, to his disgruntlement, was forced to give up on the cheese entirely. Although his passion eventually diminished, Kant would occasionally fondly recall English cheese during dinnertime.
