In 2009, Marina Ponartskaya, an artist from Kaliningrad, took on a significant project. Since many artists were not personally familiar with Kant, most portraits of the philosopher seemed to depict different people. She came up with the idea to analyze the available iconography of Kant, identify the most trustworthy portraits, and use them as a basis to reconstruct his appearance.
